Walking in the Light

John 3:19-21
19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.”

Have you ever considered the mind games we sometimes play on ourselves? Whenever we are obeying the Lord and walking in the Light of Christ, there is no fear or shame of being in His presence. But during those times when we walk in disobedience to the Light, we tend to find every possible excuse to avoid that intimacy.

We say that we are too tired to pray, or that the preacher drones on too long on Sunday morning, and that nobody at church is what they claim to be. We attempt to justify our own faulty position by making false claims and judging others in an effort to redirect the Holy Spirit’s gaze from our own disobedience.

These Mind Games have never worked with the Lord and He sees right though them. And thankfully, the patience and perseverance of the Holy Spirit continually works within us that we might be conformed to the likeness of the Son.

And the longer we avoid that conformity the more we risk the peace and intimacy of knowing Him.

1 John 1:7
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
